winning with search engines
Web sites only start to work once people have found them.
Everybody has heard of Google and everybody knows that being at the
top of the Google search results is essential. However, not everybody
can be in first place. And in any case, Google have their own ideas
about who should be at the top of the list and it is not something that
they are open to negotiation on.
Search engines are therefore an important but delicate part of the
mix. You cannot ignore them, you have to follow the 'rules' that Google
and the rest lay down — and yet you have to beat the competition in
getting to the top of the list if you are to succeed.
Search optimisation is not something that is added to a web site at
the end of the project. It influences every aspect of its design and
development and therefore needs to be present from day one.
And you can't afford to get it wrong. In particular, if you
get onto the wrong side of the search engine companies you can
find yourself penalised, and with no right of appeal.
You might want to talk to us about working with
search engines even before you start talking about building a
web site.
